Sobriety as a Path to Purpose

Alcohol consumption is often seen as a way to relieve stress, unwind, and have fun. However, the real reason many people turn to alcohol may surprise you. In this blog post, I'll share my personal journey of discovering a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment after removing alcohol from my life.

The Surprising Reason Why People Drink Alcohol

What's one reason people drink alcohol? To have something to look forward to. It turns out that we might lack fulfillment, growth, and a sense of deep purpose in our lives. Just because we have a family, a house, a job, doesn't mean we are truly fulfilled.

Discovering a Sense of Purpose

I say this because I didn't know my sense of purpose was missing until I removed alcohol. Once I stopped drinking, I thought about writing books and contributing more to the sober field. I very much enjoyed educating others and helping people find their sense of purpose. Alcohol blocked a lot of areas in my life that I needed to work on. If we don't know the areas in our lives that need healing, we can't work on growth.

I love helping people find their deeper purpose. When I decided to go alcohol-free, change my habits, and create new routines, I had to work a lot on my mindset. This process helped me begin the journey to help others to unlock their full potential. I believe seeking support and building connections can provide the encouragement, guidance, and empathy needed to navigate and sustain personal change.

Looking Forward to the Weekend

When I was drinking, I have to admit I did look forward to the weekend to unwind with alcohol. I didn't drink every weekend, but it was something I did socially a lot. I wasn't unhappy in my life, and I loved personal development. However, I didn't really know how to apply everything I learned. That was true until I stopped drinking alcohol.

Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

I stopped drinking in 2022, and I wrote my first book and published it in 2023. I also started my sober coaching business in 2023. I was speeding ahead, until I found that I wanted to quit. Turns out my limiting beliefs were shining through. In my past, I quit things when they got hard. I began to work on my limiting beliefs and what success looked like. I sought help to stay sober and work on my mindset.

Discovering My Passion for Writing

In 2024, I wrote my third children's book. I have begun to send it to literary agents. It's about alcohol and children. I believe writing is one reason why I'm here on this planet: to write and help connect with others.

The Blessing of Sobriety

Often, alcohol buries who we can and could become. It's not that my limiting beliefs started when I drank, but I never knew about them because I kept playing small. In a world that tells you who you should be, how you should act, and how drinking makes it really fun, we lose touch with who we are.

When you remove alcohol, your purpose can change and look different from day to day. Early on for me, sobriety was about learning about mindset and not feeling like I'm missing out. Removing alcohol has been a blessing. It's challenged me and made me grow. The path I was taken on helped me heal many areas in my life. I can show others that when we follow what truly makes us happy, we can find ourselves again without alcohol.
